Brooke’s involvement with ACT NOW can be viewed as an inspirational or cautionary tale depending on your point of view. Looking to do more than simply vote in 2004 Brooke found ACT NOW and one glorious bus trip on the Jersey Turnpike and an afternoon spent knocking on doors was all it took. Soon Brooke found herself taking weekly trips to Philadelphia and its suburbs to register voters. That election year was capped off by one last minute, nearly midnight trip to Pittsburg, a day spent turning out voters in the rain and one very, very long ride home. Though disappointed with the results Brooke was determined to carry on. She joined the ACT NOW leadership group and began leading canvasses all over eastern Pennsylvania and Connecticut.
Eventually Brooke found herself at a crossroads. ACT NOW had so whetted her appetite for politics she decided to make it a full time endeavor. She returned to school to get a Masters in Political Management at George Washington University. In 2008 worked as a Regional Field Director for Obama for America in Washington State, where she and her crack team of Field Organizers succeeding in turning three counties blue!
